Apotheosis : a Film Design Podcast

Introducing “apotheosis” a new film design podcast from the Production Designers Collective, hosted by PDC Board member Alexander Whittenberg.

Premiering October 17th, in celebration of IPDW 2025, the series will explore the art and soul of production design through in-depth conversations with the visual storytellers who bring cinematic worlds to life. The first episode will explore the creation and evolution of the PDC with co-founders Inbal Weinberg (The Room Next Door) and Kalina Ivanov (The Penguin). In the second episode, we’ll turn on, tune in and trip out with fellow PDC Board member Rick Carter (Avatar, Jurassic Park).

About the Organizer:

Alexander Whittenberg is an Atlanta based designer working in film, television, theatre, and immersive experiences. His film and tv credits include Popular Theory, The Archetypes, Bear With Us, Headless: A Sleepy Hollow Story, upcoming films Bridged and A Watchful Eye , and numerous commercials. As an art director/assistant art director, he’s worked on Rise for Disney, Them (S2) for Amazon/Sony, Billboard Music Awards and more.

Alex recently designed a series of holiday windows for Amazon in New York City and continues to regularly design for regional theatre. His portfolio also includes projects for Disney Parks Live Entertainment and Livesight Creative. His forthcoming podcast Apotheosis will explore the unseen world of film design. He holds a degree in Scenography from the Conservatory of Theatre Arts at SUNY Purchase and is a member of the Art Directors Guild. Alex sits on the PDC Board.
