Please join Jeannine Oppewall, esteemed production designer and four-time Academy Award–nominee for L.A. Confidential, Pleasantville, The Good Shepherd, and Seabiscuit for an intimate gathering at the home of fellow production designer and creative director Ethan Tobman. Jeannine will read from a selection of her in progress essay series, as well as participate in a short Q&A, offering insights into her decades-long career shaping cinematic worlds.

Light snacks and wine will be served as the design community gathers to connect and celebrate International Production Design Week.

About the Organizer:

Jeannine Oppewall is one of the most celebrated production designers working in film today. Her extensive work on over 30 films include titles such as Catch Me If You Can, The Big Easy, The Bridges of Madison County, and Tender Mercies. Known for her ability to balance historical authenticity with emotional depth, she has built a career crafting immersive cinematic environments. Her working essay series offer rare insight into her process and the evolving role of production design in storytelling.

Ethan Tobman helms the design studio Remote Design Inc as a Director, Creative Director and Production Designer. Recent works include creative directing Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour, interior designing the 3 star Michelin restaurant Atelier Crenn, production designing the films The Menu, Free Guy, Beautiful Boy and the Academy-Award winning Room, the Emmy award-winning TV series Pam and Tommy, the Beyonce’s visual albums Black Is King and Lemonade, and an extensive list of videos for Taylor Swift, Madonna, Ariana Grande, Kendrick Lamar and Ok Go. Upcoming works include designing his first Broadway musical, Galileo, serving as creative director for The Vegas Sphere’s music residencies, and directing his first feature film.
