October 23
13:00 - 15:00 CST
Escuela Nacional de Artes Cinematograficas -UNAM / Circuito Mario de la Cueva s/n 4510 Ciudad Universitaria
Mexico City, Mexico

This session brings together specialists in cinema, production design, architecture, and semiotics to reflect on the film screened earlier in the day. Through their diverse perspectives, the panel will examine how visual and spatial strategies construct meaning, shape perception, and articulate identity. The discussion highlights production design not merely as a support discipline, but as a creative and interpretive force within the cinematic image, capable of expanding its aesthetic and narrative possibilities.

About the Organizer:

The National School of Cinematographic Arts (ENAC) is UNAM’s dedicated film school and one of the most respected institutions for film education in Latin America. Founded in 1963 as the Centro Universitario de Estudios Cinematográficos (CUEC), it has played a central role in shaping Mexican cinema by training generations of filmmakers whose work continues to influence the national and international audiovisual landscape.

ENAC is the only institution in Mexico that offers a comprehensive academic program in Production Design as part of an undergraduate film degree. The program treats production design as a distinct discipline, focusing on cinematic space as a narrative force integrating set design, architecture, atmosphere, world-building, and visual storytelling into the creative process.
