IT: Welcome to Derry — Inside the Art Department brings together Oscar-winning Production Designer Paul Austerberry and Set Decorator Jeffrey Melvin (The Shape of Water), joined by Supervising Art Director Colin Woods, for an inside look at the creative and technical process behind HBO’s IT: Welcome to Derry.

Set decades before the events of the original films, the series revisits Derry through a new period lens — expanding one of horror’s most recognizable worlds with fresh visual storytelling. The discussion explores how the art department approached the look and feel of the town from the ground up, balancing worldbuilding, logistics, and the layered detail that gives each environment its sense of place and unease.

Together, the team reflects on the collaboration and craftsmanship that turn a production’s biggest creative challenges into the textures, spaces, and moments that define its world.
