Steven Spielberg once told an audience of filmmakers, “I’ve always maintained that after the writers, the production designers have the second vision for the film…They just don’t get enough credit for it.”

Who better to illuminate the art and philosophy of production design than a panel of distinguished designers who are now over 70 years old and have been creating cinematic art for many decades? Their collective perspective provides an in-depth, expansive and even soulful look into what it is to have the artistic vision for a film and to realize that vision. This discussion won’t be only a re-telling of old war stories, but also a lively expression of their combined intellectual and emotional perspectives, talents, where-with-all, tenacity and incisive wit that has gone into the creation of this generation's incredible collection of films.

This Los Angeles panel will feature production designers Jim Bissell, Bo Welch, Dennis Gassner, Jack Fisk, Jeannine Oppewall and K.K. Barrett and will be moderated by Rick Carter.
